Manchester - Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney doubtful for the derby against Manchester City this weekend. Rooney reportedly suffered an injury during training.
Rooney missed United's last three games due to his red card in the match against West Ham United. He did not strengthen the 'Red Devils' team when it won 2-1 against Everton, a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion, and a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
In the match against Chelsea on Sunday (26/10), Rooney is seen sitting in the stands along with United's third goalkeeper, Ben Amos. It was the last fight sat watching from the sidelines because after the game finished his red card penalty.
Rooney was able to play again in the game against City this weekend. However, as reported by the Guardian, Rooney getting injured in training sessions and doubtful in the game.
Rooney was seen walking with a limp at the event sponsored by the team on Monday (27/10) evening local time. He reportedly getting injured in the morning practice session.
Without Rooney, United's back there is the possibility to play with Robin van Persie as the lone striker. Therefore, other United striker, Radamel Falcao, also was injured. Just like Rooney, Falcao was also absent in the game against Chelsea last weekend.
Meanwhile, United defender, Luke Shaw, said that the presence of Rooney on the field is very highly anticipated by other players.
"He must have been looking forward to the match (against City, ed). You know Wayne, he hates just sitting on the sidelines and just watch it, and he has said it several times."
