Ballon d'Or No Longer Means for Ribery

Munich - Franck Ribery sponsor two teammates at Bayern Munich, Manuel Neuer and Arjen Robben, won the award for the FIFA Ballon d'Or 2014. But, for himself, the award has not meant anything.

Some time ago, FIFA announced the 23 players who finished a candidate winning the Ballon d'Or. Neuer and Robben is included, along with other famous names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Paul Pogba, and so on.

Neuer last season Bayern finished delivering Bundesliga champions and DFB-Pokal. At the international level, the 28-year goalkeeper instrumental usher Germany won the 2014 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Robben appeared impressive last season with Bayern and help the Dutch national team ranked third in the World Cup.

"What can I say? For me, Manuel Neuer or Arjen Robben should win it, there are only two views," Ribery said in an interview with Sport Bild.

"Manu has won everything, he's a good guy, not arrogant. Arjen appear extraordinary in the Bundesliga last season and then played very well in the World Cup. But, I'm afraid there's a lot of politics," he said.

According Ribery, ratings for the Ballon d'Or no longer fair. As a consequence, he said, the player who gets the award is no longer the player with the most outstanding performance on the pitch.

"Golden Ball for the best player? I no longer believe it. In 2006, (Fabio) Cannavaro be the winner - because he is a world champion. That's it," he said.

Ribery himself last year also nominated for the Ballon d'Or winner. However, that ultimately took home the award was Ronaldo. Ribery only in the third position behind Ronaldo and Messi.

"I learned a lot about the Ballon d'Or in the ceremonies. When I arrived, I turned to my wife and said, 'look how I lost'," said Ribery.

"I saw Sepp Blatter hugging Cristiano Ronaldo and see how the whole family was there. I'm not stupid," he added.

"Obviously he's going to win it. If not, he will not bring the whole family. This year will be the same," said French winger.

When asked if he felt jealous because they do not get the Ballon d'Or, Ribery denied.

"I'm not jealous. The degree is now does not mean anything to me," he said.(detikSport)
