New coach Avram Grant to Ghana

- Ghana've got a new coach to replace Kwesi Appiah. Black Stars entrust their coach seats to the former Chelsea manager Avram Grant.

Appiah was fired after failing to deliver outstanding Ghana in the World Cup in 2014. At that time, Andre Ayew and comrades slumped at the bottom of Group G, under Germany, USA, and Portugal.

After Appiah fired, appears a number of names touted to be a replacement candidate, among others, Bernd Schuster, Marco Tardelli, Michel Pont, Juan Ignacio Jimenez, even Patrick Kluivert.

However, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) finally chose Grant as the new coach. They hired a man from Israel for two years.

"Ghana Football Association announced the appointment of Avram Grant as coach of the Black Stars," wrote GFA quoted Soccerway.

"Grant Contract is valid from December 1, 2014 after he agreed a two-year contract as head coach."

Grant's first task is to lead Ghana in the 2015 African Nations Cup finals to be held in Equatorial Guinea, early next year.

After the contract was terminated Chelsea in 2008, Grant coached Portsmouth and West Ham United. He then venturing into Serbia to train Partizan Belgrade. The man who is now aged 59, was also briefly became the club's technical director in Thailand, BEC Tero Sasana.(
