Gerrard's own contract will expire next summer, and until now there has been no sign of talks on a new contract with Liverpool management.
"I'm certainly not going to retire in the summer. I'm still going to play after this season is over," said Gerrard.
"We'll see if it's in Liverpool or elsewhere. It is the decision of Liverpool. If they do not come (and offered a new contract) then I have to see what's out there," he continued.
Gerrard's performance began to decline so the reason why Liverpool assessed should take it off. However, Rodgers as manager of the Reds another opinion and calling Gerrard is still needed by the team.
The man from Northern Ireland was also convinced that in the near Gerrard will soon sign a new contract.
"We spoke without preamble. I have met with the agent Steven about a week ago. I still want him to be part of the club and whatever we're doing today," Rodgers said after the game against Newcastle United which ended with the defeat of his team's scores 0-1.
"I have to convey this information to the owner of the club and I'm sure they had that year and immediately held a meeting with the agent Steven," he added as quoted by Soccerway.(detikSport)
