Mata and Rooney absent, Van Gaal: They rested


Cambridge - Two key players of Manchester United, Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney absent when against Cambridge United in the FA Cup last night. Mata and Rooney was deliberately rested.

Both players plus Jonny Evans, who was injured, so the three players that are not in the squad 'Red Devils' when being held 0-0 at the Abbey Stadium. Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal brought Marouanne Fellaini, Adnan Januzaj, and James Wilson.

Mata and Rooney was given a break so fit to play against Leicester City in the Premier League next week.

Mata and Rooney's presence might be able to change the outcome of the match Manchester United against Cambridge. However, Van Gaal said he did not regret his decision.

"I gave Wayne a break," Van Gaal said after the game that launched the official website of the MU. "He's fit to play, as well as Juan Mata."

"I do not regret not to include them in the team," he said.

With a 0-0 draw, Manchester United now must live action replay against Cambridge at Old Trafford.(
